West Coast Time

I just adapted to the time over there....and I know better than that, it's not like I haven't been on the West Coast before. There was something about being over there this time that put me in an instant comfort zone. My girl lives there, which is a lot different from going on business. It doesn't get any better than when someone shows you around their town, though i'm not knocking the experience of getting around on your own.

When I arrived on Thursday night it was 9:30pm west coast, though 12:30am east coast, I was not tired but rather amped up. The precedence was already set that we were going out, the first thing we did was go home and get changed. Her house is beautiful and perfect for her way of life....cozy, inviting, warm, and plenty of natural surroundings consisting of bushes with blooming flowers, delicious smelling lavender, wild flowers, fountains, ponds, dry burnt grass *sorry girl....tee hee but I keeps it real and a green house which sits in front of a path that leads to a secret garden. This garden has grapes, strawberries, raspberries to mention a few items and my all time favorite, a bench...under the grapevines I might add. She had picked raspberries earlier that morning for us to eat when I arrived. This was nothing special she was doing for me, she picked berries there regularly, she was just happy I was there to enjoy them with her. That is what I mean by her way of life, when I arrived, it was amazing to me that she found a house so perfect for her, no need to travel to pick her natural foods or let her green thumb get the best of her.

We changed in about 45 minutes and headed to the spots where DJs are spinnin vinyl and hip hop, mostly underground and old school. Of course yours truly could've used some R&B up in there but it was all good. We sipped on some Pineapple Mojito's while running into several of "Mannie's" friends and a couple in particular she had agreed to meet there. We drank and danced for a bit and it was nice to see my girl out there getting down with some inches on her feet.... there was a day it was nothing but flats for her unless we wanted the possibility of a sprained ankle. She has since made me aware that it was hard for her to balance the extra weight..... I can dig that ladybug. After we left that club we headed to another one to meet her roommate. This club was NOT poppin, the music wasn't hittin and the folks was funky. I think it was from all them folks who rode their bikes there, with the exception of some of course, but if they were funky, I bet they rode a bike. (Smile) That's what they do....... but Mannie and roomie wasn't feeling it either so we all ended up leaving and heading over to a another friends house, then another....lol, I actually met quite a few folks of her the night I arrived, it was awesome. After our house visit spree, we called it a night. We went back to her place and made our plans for the next day which included early movies after breakfast, some shopping...for a map and clothes ...shoes of course. That was the plan, so we chatted it up some more and soon fell asleep, it had to have been like 3 am when we got home, I guess that meant to sleep by 4 with bed preparation time taken.

Well I have to work tomorrow so to sleep I must go, tonight I finished, or almost finished, packing for my trip to MI on Thursday, can't wait to get home. Hopefully, i'll be don't blogging about Portland so I don't have to double up when I get back from MI. Talk soon -N- be easy.

Coolness.........

As I embarked on my journey to get giant floor plan copies made for the boss lady, I almost passed out. It was 10am and the temperature was already in the upper 80's. I didn't go outside again based on that, I figured if it was that hot at 10am, nobody in their right mind would attempt to go outside at mid day. It was a great relief to hear the thunder outside which was a sign of rain. I missed seeing it but it was obvious it fell because it has cooled way down compared to earlier, I could feel the coolness from the rain as soon as I left the building .

As I wind down my work week early, tomorrow being my last day in the office this week, there is a heck of a shuffle to get things to me so they are squared away before I leave. We suddenly have gotten so busy at work, I wish I wasn't leaving (to a certain degree).

I talked to my little brothers today. The youngest one called me to see when I was coming home and that sure felt good. He calls and checks on me from time to time anyway but I was supposed to go home in March to see my newborn niece but never made. I know he was disappointed but he didn't act to upset. They both have saw Transformers and we may go see it again together when I get in town. The whole time I was watching it I was wishing I was with them....but my bff was a cool substitute for my brothers....he holds enough of my history. I look forward to my trip home next weekend.

I just had to leave someone a note because I took their stuff out of the dryer. Now as many times as i've left my stuff in the dryer for hours thinking nobody needs to use it, I never thought of the effect it would have on someone who actually does need it contrary to my belief. It was truly annoying to go up and down the stairs multiple times to check on the dryer. I was tempted to knock on each of my neighbor's doors and ask someone to come remove their clothes, but I figured that would take more effort than removing the clothes, placing them in my laundry basket and leaving a note for the person whom they belong to. The note said " Greetings, I hope you do not mind me removing your clothes from the dryer. I have been waiting a little over an hour and am not sure when you plan on doing so. I have placed your clothes in my laundry basket. Please remove them and leave the carrier here. My apologies if this has upset you or caused you any stress. #746". I ran it by a couple people to see if they would be mad and I know I wouldn't be if someone would've done that to me when I would leave my stuff in the dryer. I'm sure if they are pissed, i'll hear about it..... I did leave my apartment number after all.

Starting Off

Today was a typical Monday. The only difference was I wasn't grumpy, I was pretty social for surprisingly. We had a interview for a Administrative Coordinator to replace me on our Neighborhood Networks contract. The interview went great! I can wait for his young lady to join our squad.

I've been looking (not actively) for a PCP and today I decided to make it top priority. My Eczema is flaring up as it does with every season change but this summer it is super bad. I found a PCP in Silver Spring that I want to start going to but they weren't answering the phone today which was already a bad start . From the recording that picks up, the office is supposed to be open, do you think that's a sign? It probably doesn't help that I only look for last names that look American. I know people can marry into American names but it's worth the effort to me. Now if I get someone from another country by referral, that's cool too.

Class after work as usual and I skipped on the gym, I tied to run when I got home but it was way to hot. My neighbor just let me know they are paining the balconies the 11th - 14th. That means I have to move my treadmill in the house before I leave for Portland on Thursday....I am not looking forward to doing this but if I must I must.

That's it for me tonight chaps......ttys.

Sunday Steam

The heat today was outrageous. I know this isn't the first time it's been this hot but I wasn't prepared for it. I didn't do much, had plans to go to Glenarden Splash Park but it was packed and there was no parking. I ended up at a girlfriends pool because I have no passes for my own. It was cool though, we still had our cooler of goods and kicked for a couple hours. I didn't swim for various reasons but it was relaxing.

That's really all I did today, I have class tomorrow and still no book. I finally ordered it on Thursday and am upset with myself I didn't order it sooner. I really wanted in time for class tomorrow. I watched Def Poetry tonight which was really good. It is Season 1. I was surprised to see Cedric The Entertainer and Dave Chappelle on there. Both were comical of course, but Cedric dropped a real spoken word. Dave Chappelle on the other hand was truly comical. His poem was not the norm, but it was not disappointing either.

Short and sweet for tonight and probably the rest of the week. I'll be preparing for my trip to Portland. G'nite all.

Just right

So far, my weekend was/is pretty good. Friday after I got off, I went to Kobe Steakhouse with a friend. We had a really good time, and after we ate, we walked around Cap Center and then headed to DSW to try on shoes........well, I was trying on shoes anyway. As I said last week Saturday, they are having an awesome sale. After we left DSW, where he was very patient as I fussed over which shoe looks better. For the life of my I cannot stop picking up at least 2-3 inches. I'm working on that though. Anyway, after we left DSW, we sat in the parking lot and talked for a while before parting ways. It was a pretty cool evening.

This morning I got up with the intentions of going to the gym, but I didn't quite make it as I went astray from my route to head to the dry cleaners i've been meaning to get to for the last 4 weeks, after that I headed to get some hair stuff. I needed to be back home by 11 and it was already 10 by the time I got done running my errands. I decided to go ahead and run at home on the balcony instead of heading to Silver Spring. That would've taken longer than I wanted, I felt it in my bones.

My folks and I were heading to the movies at 12:00pm to see Transformers. Word of advice, if you haven't seen this movie yet, please please please go see it. It is awesome, if you grew up with the Autobots and Decepticons, this movie will bring you sheer joy. It is missing nothing and has just the right amount of everything. Definitely a re-see if necessary.

After we left the movies, we walked around the mall a bit and then headed to a cookout. It was okay, the food wasn't all that impressive with the exception of a couple things. The ribs were good. There was about 8 coolers and all but 1, and it was small, had beer and other beverages that contained liquor. We were there about 45 minutes to and hour and rolled out to rest up to go out for the evening.

The DJ at The Street was spinning pretty good. I got my dance on and stayed a little later than usual. I saw some new and younger faces in there tonight, both men and women.

Later today is a different day since I am going to sleep real soon. Talk soon peoples

What day is it again

I kept thinking it was Monday today and asking everybody how was their weekend. It kind of felt like I just got back from out of town for some strange reason and I didn't even do that much over the last two days. But i'm back to reality now and have adjusted to the fact that tomorrow is Friday (smile) . I made it to the gym today after a 4 day hiatus. I was not feeling it, but I forced myself to go and am glad I did. I hit the ab machine only doing 2 sets of 10 on the one downstairs and one of the machines upstairs and called it a day.

Not much more to my evening, came home, got so fresh and so clean clean, headed out to drop off some greens in DC to my homey and came on back home. One of my girls stopped by for about a hour, now i'm on here and next i'm going to sleep.

Tomorrow, I shall attempt to hit happy hour.....stay tuned!
