My fault

I didn't blog yesterday due to barely keeping my eyes open when I got home. There wasn't much to my day though. I moved into a new cubicle at work, it is an extreme downsize but i'm making it work. I went to my bff's to catch up and eat dinner. He made fish and pasta which was quite good. Today has been busy with the actual move thus far and training my new position. I'm going to happy hour after work with co-workers and taking it easy tonight until the cookout tomorrow. .....I'll have to catch up with you all later

Ain't nobody humpin' around

I still have so many thing relating to winding down from my trips. Vacations are always nice but when you get back and reality is front and center waiting for you, it pulls some of that joy of having been gone so long away from you. My little suitcase is unpacked but my bit one isn't. I still have picture to go through, save and send.......and I need to clean off my work laptop tonight. Due to the promotion, there are some "privileges" I won't have anymore. Sucks sorta, but, you know, if I must, I must.

I started moving and my training for Quality Assurance Monitor today. It went good and we'll do another couple hours tomorrow. He said i'll be on my own by next week. Hopefully these next two days will be smooth ones so I can focus as much as I can on training.

I took my mid-term tonight and it went pretty good, wasn't that hard at all. I got a tip from a classmate telling me it was a lot easier than she anticipated. That conversation with her in itself gave me enough insight as to what to focus on as far as last minute studying. My Business Writing class was good too. We're going to turn in our portfolio's for our mid-term and watch a movie while eating pizza.

I got my dancing honestly and the sweat that comes along with it. This realization came to me this past trip home as I watched my dad sweating profusely as he jammed on the dance floor. I no longer wonder why my forehead is pouring after one song of me dropping it like it's hot...lol. One thing is for sure though, neither one of us stink, but we still need to sit down some where people be thinking, but the music just moves us.

Well that's it for me folks, i'm signing out, i'm still trying to catch up on rest. It's funny how I got more sleep hanging with my girlfriend 2 weekends ago than I did when I was hanging with my mom(s) and dad....among other family, and none of it was clubbin. I have also met some very interesting people over the past few weeks (positive talk) Anyway, until the 26th.

Swing of things

Today was a typical day for me, played catch up from last week and the weekend and went to the doctor regarding my eczema. They gave me a refferral just a I wanted.

When I was home, I was there for a wedding and to see my newest niece. This is the first time i've come home and my cousins have been out of town. I alwasy go out with them, but not this time. Though I missed clubbin with them, this gave me more time in the evenings. I ended up on the side of the road at a fish hole. We started off pulling baby Blue Gills out the water, but after about 15-20 minutes, the big ones started coming out to play. I was paranoid and told my dad I didn't want to fish on no side of the road, he basically told me I must've forgotten where I came from since I moved over here (Maryland). Truth be told, he was right. Not until I hooked my first Gill, though it was tiny, did I remember being younger and setting up camp anywhere my daddy heard they were biting. I suddenly became very comfortable and less worried about the no parking sign posted and the fact we were on the side of a road fishing. I had my story all planned if the authorities pulled up on us and asked for our fishing license. My dad and his girl had one, but I didn't. I would've said I was from out of town and holding the pole from my daddy, hoping showing them my MD identification would soften them up. Luckily, nobody stopped by but people who wanted to know if they were biting. Though the wedding was beautiful and much fun, I would have to say fishing was the highlight of my trip.... I haven't been in so long.

I also went out and watched my brother skate, that boy is bad on them thangs, he reminds me of my daddy. When I was younger, I was pretty smooth too. I have to admit we get that from both of our parents. But now days, all I can think of is hitting that floor....and I ain't feeling that. When I do get out there though, I do pretty good, I need to practice my backwards skating a little more and stop being so paranoid.

The wedding was beautiful and it was wonderful having all my family and closest family friends in one place. We laughed, danced, ate and socialized all night. At the end of it all, we took pictures, minus my momma, she always seems to disappear before picture time and I don't know how that always happens.

After the wedding my dad and I went and hung out at various places down town before calling it a night. It was fun, he imitated people on the dance floor and received an standing ovation from the people on the side lines, they were so tickled and he truly was funny.

Back once again.....

Hey all...i'm back from MI. I noticed my last entry's photo's didn't show up, i'm going to try to fix that so stay tuned and i'll let you know when it's fixed. Michigan was wonderful! From visiting with family, going to the wedding, dancing, fishing and having a small dinner party, I had a fun filled weekend among loved ones. I saw some of everyone and they make me feel old.

Whenever I come home, my dad picks me up and we chill for a bit before I head to my mom's to post up for the weekend. On Friday, Daddy, my step mom and I went fishing. We parked on the side of the road, clearly marked no parking, and did the dang thang. I was kind of skeptical at first, being on the roadside and all, but eventually, I remember where I came from and this is how we did it when I was growing up. It doesn't where you find the water hole, just throw your pole in there and see what you can pull out the water. We caught some really big Blue Gills, yours truly had the largest (smile). When we first dropped our poles in the water, all mum and I kept pulling up were baby Gills, we were getting pretty pissed and was ready to leave, but after we gave it another 15-20 minutes, it was on and poppin, we were pulling them up right & left.

We left the hole after about 3 hours of fun fishing and headed back to my daddy's house so he could clean them up for some good eating.

I have a lot more to share about my trip home but want to see if I can figure this picture thing out, so check back with me later this week.....

Where did the time go?

There has been so much going on since I left Portland including preparation for heading home tomorrow. I feel like I haven't had any "down" time. So let me finish about Portland, I don't want the story to loose its luster but i'm going to have to summarize a bit more than the first night....or at least try.

So when Mannie and I got up on Friday, we started off a little later than expected, but still not to late at all, actually perfect for a heavy breakfast at mid day with a cold sweet mimosa. After a long and much needed chat with my girlfriend to catch up on the mishaps in each other's lives, we decided to head back to the house as opposed to go to the movies. We were both to full and felt like we would fall asleep in there, we were up by 10ish and out the house by 11:45ish after going to bed at around 4 from grovin all night may I remind you, that food was just what we needed to put us right back in sleepy mode. We walked back up, or down, the 3 blocks or so, went in the house, turned on the music, reminisced, and eventually fell asleep.

About 2 or 3 hours later, we were back up and at em' heading to Hawthorne to check out the local shops. There were a lot of cool places, we played in makeup, both bought 1 of the 2 pair of shoes we purchased each from a second hand shop...hot ones might I add (smile), clothes, vegan cupcakes which were delicious, natural foods groc store and got white nectarines, white peaches, cherries and I had to have one chicken taco. What can I say, I was on the west coast and it was only a dollar. My girl couldn't find anyone to cover her shift that night so she had to go in by midnight. That was cool, gave me a chance to relax in her pad a little bit and even watch a movie. Before she went in to work, we made a routine, yes like a back in the day routine with the counting 1.....2....3......4, and 1....2....3 - 1.....2......3, down - up and kick (snap) duh duh duh. It was truly funny. We made a decision to work on it separately so when we see each other again we could finish it.

After working until 5am on Saturday morning, my girl was up by 10:30ish to start the day with me. We had plans to see the beautiful waterfalls this day and I couldn't wait. Every since she moved there, i've been wanting to see the waterfalls. We hit up one of her favorite places for lunch, and it was definitely delicious, and ran into some of her other girlfriends from work. They were cool people, nice conversation and genuine, just like her other friends she introduced me to, male and female. After we left them, it was up the river side and to the falls. We stopped at a 3 different falls and passed by 5 all together I think. I can't remember the name of them now but I will in a future blog so watch for it. They were breathtaking and so much better in real life than on pictures. I could feel the water blowing in the wind against my face and it felt so good, so natural, so clean. There was no place in the world I would've rather been than hiking uphill to get the benefits of that feeling. After we left the falls, we were tired, but we agreed that we wouldn't fall asleep and go out again since we didn't go to any of the parties her boys were throwing on Friday before she went to work (hence the routine). Long story short, we ended up falling asleep anyway and missing our clubbing time, we were both totally fine with it. We did so much Saturday including the run back to Hawthorne I didn't mention earlier to pick up the map I wanted, retrieve my glasses from where we played in eyeshadow at and run back a vegan cupcake, rest is really what we needed, not partying. Besides, the older I get, the less partying I need to do. But when I do hit, I gone and hit it hard and quick.

We got up on Sunday and went to see Transformers (yes I went again and will do so one more time with my family when I get home), then headed to another one of her spots for lunch. I loved the fact that we ate outside each time. When i'm with her, she gives me peace of mind and I always feel at ease (unless she's trying to park) and that feels good. When we left lunch, we headed downtown to the bookstore but not before walking through the farmers market. I ran in the bookstore and grabbed something while she looked for a book she's been meaning to get. When we left, we walked over by the water which was a few blocks away to people watch for a hot minute and headed back to the car. While we were at the water, I was informed her intentions of making me ride a bike to this location. I don't think i've told you all that Portland is a MAJOR bike town, or maybe I have, but whatever the case....that bridge we had to cross to get from one side of the town to the next was awful long and I had no intentions of riding a bike across it and then further given the distance to the bridge from her house and from the bridge to the bookstore and riverside. She was trippin, but I love her for the effort!

When we got back to her place, I completed my packing, we chilled for a bit and off to the airport I went for a 9:50 flight. I don't think I left anything out but if I did i'll let you know. I'm sleepy and signing off now. Pictures are still to come.......

West Coast Time

I just adapted to the time over there....and I know better than that, it's not like I haven't been on the West Coast before. There was something about being over there this time that put me in an instant comfort zone. My girl lives there, which is a lot different from going on business. It doesn't get any better than when someone shows you around their town, though i'm not knocking the experience of getting around on your own.

When I arrived on Thursday night it was 9:30pm west coast, though 12:30am east coast, I was not tired but rather amped up. The precedence was already set that we were going out, the first thing we did was go home and get changed. Her house is beautiful and perfect for her way of life....cozy, inviting, warm, and plenty of natural surroundings consisting of bushes with blooming flowers, delicious smelling lavender, wild flowers, fountains, ponds, dry burnt grass *sorry girl....tee hee but I keeps it real and a green house which sits in front of a path that leads to a secret garden. This garden has grapes, strawberries, raspberries to mention a few items and my all time favorite, a bench...under the grapevines I might add. She had picked raspberries earlier that morning for us to eat when I arrived. This was nothing special she was doing for me, she picked berries there regularly, she was just happy I was there to enjoy them with her. That is what I mean by her way of life, when I arrived, it was amazing to me that she found a house so perfect for her, no need to travel to pick her natural foods or let her green thumb get the best of her.

We changed in about 45 minutes and headed to the spots where DJs are spinnin vinyl and hip hop, mostly underground and old school. Of course yours truly could've used some R&B up in there but it was all good. We sipped on some Pineapple Mojito's while running into several of "Mannie's" friends and a couple in particular she had agreed to meet there. We drank and danced for a bit and it was nice to see my girl out there getting down with some inches on her feet.... there was a day it was nothing but flats for her unless we wanted the possibility of a sprained ankle. She has since made me aware that it was hard for her to balance the extra weight..... I can dig that ladybug. After we left that club we headed to another one to meet her roommate. This club was NOT poppin, the music wasn't hittin and the folks was funky. I think it was from all them folks who rode their bikes there, with the exception of some of course, but if they were funky, I bet they rode a bike. (Smile) That's what they do....... but Mannie and roomie wasn't feeling it either so we all ended up leaving and heading over to a another friends house, then another....lol, I actually met quite a few folks of her the night I arrived, it was awesome. After our house visit spree, we called it a night. We went back to her place and made our plans for the next day which included early movies after breakfast, some shopping...for a map and clothes ...shoes of course. That was the plan, so we chatted it up some more and soon fell asleep, it had to have been like 3 am when we got home, I guess that meant to sleep by 4 with bed preparation time taken.

Well I have to work tomorrow so to sleep I must go, tonight I finished, or almost finished, packing for my trip to MI on Thursday, can't wait to get home. Hopefully, i'll be don't blogging about Portland so I don't have to double up when I get back from MI. Talk soon -N- be easy.
