Incognito

Hey peoples! I'm back with some chit chatter. There has been so much going I can barely keep up with myself. I am now doing the elliptical machine as opposed to the treadmill. I figured if I switched up my body would appreciate it more. I need to get back into the swing of things for the weekend.

I have a party coming up this weekend i've been waiting for these past couple months. I look forward to it but now i'm in the process of trying to round up my crew so we can step up in there together.

It's funny how every time I swear myself off "boys" some "boys" come right my way talking a good talk. Oh well, i'll go ahead and entertain this one too until I'm singing another one bites the dust.

I'm trying to figure out if i'm heading home next month for the holidays or if i'm going to stick around here. Of course my family and friends in MI choose the first option, but i'm tired of spending my money going home. We'll see how that pans out.

So I read a really good poem that made me feel better about the single life i'm living. I do enjoy being single, but there are more times that i'd rather have a companion by my side.

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

Finishing Up

So back to Thursday, when I went to Jaspers. There was a guy there with his boy. This guy asked me to go the bar and get him a drink. I responded by telling him I wasn't even getting up to get my own drinks but my girl would take care of him. Now I was right there by the bar and it was just a matter of leaning forward, but the problem is talking loud. Bartenders can never hear me when I order, I talk very low and don't like really yelling. But Bhugah was a professional orderer (that's what I call her). This guy was chocolate, cute and quiet but not shy. We chatted for a little bit and then it was time for us ladies to pack it up and roll out. As we prepared to leave, chocolate's friend decides to holla' at me quickly by asking me for a business card. When told him I didn't have any new ones made, he then asked for my phone number. I reluctantly gave it to him, I'm not really in to the caramel complexion. After we got outside of Jaspers, I told my girl I wished the chocolate one would've been a little quicker on his game, but maybe he has no game and wasn't going to holla anyway. So Bhugah goes back inside, gets chocolate, tells him I really wanted to get at him not his boy, brings him outside and the rest is history. We have had two great conversations, I was thinking he would be a little to quiet but hes' far from it. He's just not the type of guy that goes out with the intention of picking up someone, he was really just enjoying the football game.

Friday I went over my girls house and ran a couple errands with her. She also took me by her new home she was moving into (she moved on Saturday). We chilled for a couple hours then I headed home. I had plans to go to Juste Lounge, but never made it.

Saturday I went to a high school football game. It was hot as a dickens outside. We sat in my girlfriends brothers car for about a quarter of the game because it was parked right upfront by the field. We got out for the fourth quarter and after about 10 minutes of standing there, I couldn't take it anymore. I had to go. I did see DCC hit someone hard, we heard it from afar. I went home, watched a movie and got dressed to hit up The Street. I really wasn't trying to go, but as usual, TC called me up and said she would be at my house between 9:30 and 10pm and she has a key so if I didn't let her in she would let herself in and harass me. I think I injured my knee, as my boy Fergie said, "one MC Hammer move to many".

Sunday I cooked dinner for a folk or two and watched Idlewild with my girl TC. I was not that impressed with Idlewild. I guess it was good for Outkast first movie and I enjoyed the overall concept but it was a little hard to get into. Yesterday I had some good conversations , good company and visual stimulation. I must say I had a pretty good relaxing weekend. I also found out we have one more cookout to go to this summer at a beach house. I am looking forward to it. This means I better get back to the gym full time.

Talk to you all in a couple days.

Playing Catch Up

I think I left off on last Friday. My Friday consisted of a hair appointment, nail re polishing and some lightweight shopping. I went home to get a nap at around 5pm from being out all day. I ended up at Bay Street Friday night with my girl. It was nice, I met a few new people who were not nerve wrecking and I met a few who were. Nonetheless, I walked out of there with the same amount of friends I had when I got there.

Saturday morning was great for many reasons, but upsetting for one. As I stated in my previous blog, I was up early headed to the Cap Ctr to get my eyebrows down, but it never happened. I went home, prepared for the beach party at Sandy Point I was attending and rolled out with my girl. We actually passed the exit for Sandy Point and ended up going across the bridge.....since we were already over there, we went ahead and picked up 2 dozen crabs to take to the beach with us. We got there good and early so we were sure to have a nice spot to set up camp. I have a friend who showed up, but he showed up with another girl. I immediately went into "Oh no the hell he didn't mode" but he came correct. He explained to me it was just his friend who was sitting around the house doing nothing so he offered her a ride out there to kick it. At first I thought it was just game, then I had to remember how many male friends I have and how I invite them places, some ride with me and some don't. At that point, I decided to check myself and just be observant. At the end of the day, he walked with me hand and hand on the sand of the beach and noticed every time I wasn't around, calling my cell phone to see where I was at. We left the beach at about 7:00ish to go home and get ready to step back out that night....need I say where, lol.

Sunday was yet another day of fun in the sun. I went to a cookout initiated by yours truly and her partner in crime. I also had my girlfriend Jill join me. I've been trying to get her to hang out with me all summer at these cookouts I attend but she's never knew what the crowd was like, thus, skeptical about coming. Well...she really enjoyed herself and looks forward to kicking it next summer....when we do it all over again. The cookout was great and we left at about 10:00pm. We were going to head to The Street again, but something came up for me so I didn't make it. I did have a good evening without hittin the dance floor.

Monday was good, a lot of relaxing and I caught a movie. I also did some homework and house cleaning. My weekend was long enough and I had no hesitations about coming back to work this week.

Tuesday was a good day, I went to the gym and went home and did homework for my Wednesday night Final.

On Wednesday night, I went out with my professor and classmates. We went to Takoma station to listen to some Jazz. My professor is super cool. She and I had a blast together and the company of all the gentlemen in the class was wonderful too. They made sure the professor and I kept our glasses full. I only had two drinks due to the need to drive home. Another thing I found out that night was one of my classmates has a crush on me. We had small conversation and exchanged numbers but I am not reading into it at all. One thing is for sure, I had a blast with them all and that was the first time i'd kicked it with my fellow Strayer attendees.

Last night (Thursday) I ended up at Jasper's on Greenbelt Road with my girlfriend Boog. We had a couple drinks, snacked on some munchies and got in some good conversations. Boog put me on blast with one of the guys, I was hating her then, but I loved her for it when it was all said and done. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow or later tonight. I must go for now.

Nice Labor Day Weekend

So let me start with last Thursday. I was very excited for my fun filled weekend to start. Though originally, I was supposed to be going home to MI, I ended up sticking around town to do the local activities.

On Thursday at 4:00pm, I had the infamous Spa appointment. Though I had scheduled it originally for a week before it actually happened and Nok (yes that is her real name, I am not keeping it confidential. I want you all to know who NOT to go see should you need a massage.) called and cancelled about an 2 hours before my appointment which made me immediately feel like this was going to be a bad experience. I had spoke with her earlier that day to confirm and she asked me then could I come any earlier. I let her know I couldn't due to my work schedule and she said okay. So for her to call me back that same day and tell me something came up and she needed to cancel was a lie. The reason she wanted me to come early, is the same reason she called and cancelled. *On a side note, I have to admit, when I got the certificate and saw where it was from, Technicolor Day Spa at Cap Ctr Blvd I immediately thought to myself, I wonder if this place is as ghetto as it looks every time I walk by. Anyway, when I arrived on Thursday, I was greeted and taken to the back by Dee, the nail tech. For the record, Dee done a excellent job on my pedicure. The only thing wrong, was she didn't paint the entire toenail and she painted my nails a color she thought was good, not what I actually wanted. But the service part was the actual pedi and mani which she gets two thumbs up on. After Dee completed my pedi, Nok came and got me for my massage. She told me to get undressed and she'd be back. So I checked the clock to see what time it was, the massage was supposed to be for an hour. After I laid down, I could hear all the conversations going on at the hair salon. It was a bunch of chatter mixed with louder "ambiance" music in the massage room, not very relaxing at all. Not to mention nobody offered me any beverages or refreshments of any kind. Forty-five minutes later, Nok was done, I didn't say anything about my shorted time, I really would've loved my 15 minutes but decided to let it alone. I then expected her to do my eyebrow wax because I saw all the necessary tools in the massage room. Instead, she sent me back out to Dee for my manicure. In an effort to not mess up their flow or tell them how to run their business, I didn't ask why wasn't she doing my eyebrows then, I figured there was a method to their madness. I then noticed while Dee was finishing up my manicure, Nok went in with another client. This means I would need to wait at least 60 minutes until she was ready. With that in mind, I left after telling Dee she didn't not provide my final service and I can be back the following moring. I asked Dee to tell her to call me later that evening. When I didn't hear from her, called her, she answered the phone, stated that Dee gave her the message. I couldn't figure out why she didn't call me as soon as she realized the error she made. We agreed on another time, which was Saturday morning at 9am. By the time I left the Spa, I was so stressed at the service I received, I felt like I needed a massage. Originally, my girlfriend who purchased the spa gift certificate on behalf of my co-workers for my birthday was supposed to go with me, i'm glad she didn't. There is only one massage room (that I noticed) and both of us likely would've had an attitude. I would not recommend Technicolor Salon & DaySpa to anyone if you are looking to truly be pampered....this isn't the place.

Later that evening I just chilled and fussed about my expierence. I had a hair appointment the next day and looked forward to that.

Friday was filled with running around and ended with The Street...i'll tell you all about it tomorrow.

Last Week

Last week went by so fast. I didn't realize I hadn't blogged since Thursday. Not much has happened since then. My weekend didn't have much to it outside of cooking, cleaning and getting my hair done. I was going to step out on Saturday, but the rain and thunderstorm stopped all that action.

Yesterday I ended up cooking, as usual, cleaning my apartment and watched some movies. I talked to a a unfamiliar voice yesterday which was pretty refreshing but outside of that, I had a pretty low key weekend. I did have my bff tell me i'm uptight and snippy lately. It hit me right in the gut but what's funny is that I kind of know what he's talking about. I've spent all weekend thinking of those words he e-mailed to me. In the past, i've been ran over easily and am quick to tell someone yes i'll do something even if i'm really not feeling it. Now days, I cut things down i'm not feeling quickly. I have a low tolerance for bu-sh in my life and don't bite my tongue when it come to expressing this low tolerance. My mom told me she thinks it's good i've stopped letting people dictate to me what I want to do and/or how I should feel, but now I need to work on my approach and execution of letting people know how I feel. I can accept that and plan on working on how I address certain situations. One thing is for sure, e-mail tone is all in the hands of the reader, so this likely isn't the best route to go if you have something to address or talk about. This will likely be my biggest challenge since it is so much easier for me to communicate via e-mail.

I am no longer going home as planned for Labor Day Weekend but I still have big plans. From the Spa, to my hair appointment to prep me for the beach party on Saturday and cookout on Sunday.

Jumped the Hump

Well all, i've decided I'm only going to blog probably 3 times a week, twice during the week and once on Sunday for the weekend. So my days will probably be Wed, Friday and Sunday or Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. We'll see. I had a episode with my eyes yesterday that scarred the mess out of me. Everything was spotty and blotchy that I looked at, and it didn't happen until about 3:30 in the afternoon. I'm near sighted and work on a computer all day long with my contacts on. Now, I don't need vision help up close, so I'm wondering if i'm look at a computer screen to much. As I get older, I think of all kinds of things I probably need to stop doing, and getting on the computer for hours when I get home, after being in front of one all day is likely a good idea.

I have also decided i'm going to go ahead and cut my hair. Every time I put it up in a ponytail and feel how thin it is, I get pretty darn upset with myself for even putting braids in my hair...but they were very very convenient. I do wish the take down didn't do such damage to a persons hair. I've been told their are people who take down braids "professionally" but i'm sure the cost is the same or close to the same as putting them up. To think about what I go through with my hair sometimes makes me want to change professions. If there are more people in the world like me, and can afford it, hairstylist make a killing.

I rescheduled my spa appointment for next Thursday and am heading to MI on Friday. My boy and his cousin are driving my car and i'm just riding, well that's the plan anyway. This will be a short trip home, but I am surely looking forward to it.

There is a lot going on around the office, one of them being i'm moving office spaces, yes AGAIN. I went from a double-wide to a small and now to a decent sized cubie. But as I always say, as long as my paycheck doesn't change, they can sit me where they like.

Ready....Set

It seems like days just fly by when Monday is over. Today was a pretty good day. I got 30 scored calls at work so I can't complain about my numbers. One thing I did do I was pretty upset about today is forget my dermatology appointment this morning. I realized it at about 11:30am and called to reschedule. Luckily, they had something available next week same time but a Tuesday. May day was indeed overall good, I even left class at half time (the break). My professor handed out the study guides and my paper is due next week so I could afford to miss the second half.

My girlfriend had a crisis with her daughter, but by the time I got home, they had talked it out and thins were better. She still stopped by and chatted me up about it which was cool. We are each others ears and voice of reason...not to mention we are each others irrational thoughts too. She got her sweet potato pie and rolled out after our chat session.

I finished the laundry on my bed, found my memory stick, had a very small bit to eat and am not tying up my thinned out broke off hair and going to sleep. Tomorrow I shall call my hairstylist and see if she is cutting hair from her home. Tomorrow they guy who owns the shop she works for is closing his business down. She hasn't decided what she is going to do yet, meanwhile, my head is a mess and it must get cut in layers. The good thing about hair is it grows back.
