One of the last

Today was a good day overall, I got up this morning and baked my last cake and decorated my first cake. The decorations came out pretty good, as I use the kit more, I will get better at it i'm sure. The words looked a little shaky, but outside of that, it was a pretty good job for a first time with no practice or training.

After I finished preparing the desserts, I went and got myself prepared to head to the cookout. During that process, I had a really strong urge to call my best friend back home. She has MS and hasn't worked in a while so I wanted to check on her. I called and was happy to find her in good spirits as we shared jokes of the past and exchanged new things about our lives neither one of us knew about yet. It was so refreshing to hear her voice and laughter, she is all the things I miss about home....family.

The cookout was a blast, with good food and company we kicked it for hours and ended it with some good old karaoke. This family knows how to party and do it tastefully. There's never a dull moment with them. Being welcomed as a part of their inner circle feels good. I've been blessed all my life with a load of really good friend in my life who have my back and give me their support. Without some of these people, i'm sure I would be in a different place in my life.

I was going to step out with one of my girls to our spot but we both decided we'd let it go for tonight, I did attend a cookout today and that was plenty. It's winding down to the end of the summer which means today will be one of the last cookouts there is to attend. I guess springtime will bring more dancing...or maybe i'll have a boo :-)....or maybe not, lol.
